0000004

When he wished meditation undisturbed, Descartes would nuzzle himself into a boiler - the way a fat mouse might wiggle and wedge itself into a nook. A very warm man, Descartes - it's hard to recall the cogito without the image of Rene wrapped up in his thick bedgown, sat by an amber crackling log fire. I'm not convinced about the absolute severalty of mind and matter: in a similar way that spacetime came about, I think we'll see it's a synthesis - mindmatter. I am on the same some my-brain-doesn't-work-if-I'm-cold shit as R.D. though...

Hold up...

You walked in
I woke up

For anyone wondering what point the picture above serves, let me just reverse-engineer one while I tell you the circumstances of the image. Pictured are a couple of pages of a mini-novel -- "Mission Mini" -- a gratis PR tool commissioned by BMW to market the new Mini. When it was new. So, this is about 7 years ago. Jesus, even in my head I say "a-bauuuut". Mmm, but (don't say "bbuuuuut", not even mentally, ever...) but, being in my early twenties 7 years ago, I thought sarcasm was hilarious; now having broken the 30 mark, I still think sarcasm is hilarious. I'm just sharper and more smug now, etc. That last line was...OK, we all get it.
After 7 years my wit should have moved on to something outwardly better - like laughing in the right places in Richard III; but no, sorry, it's teleologically inert. Reading sarcastic potshots written by the twenty three year old me reading this novel make me giggle guilty. Like home videos of adults getting an inflatable ball in the face, or balls.

So...

I'm having trouble finding a snazzy reason for posting the photo. I was just testing how the scanner works with the new iMac Nana and me got a-bauuuut, oh, I dunno, 6 months ago. This is how long it takes me to get around to these little jobs - the ones that are almost worth doing, but not quite as worth it as fucking them off and watching the TV instead.

Oh hey, "The Wire" is about to start
